Dinner For One
Guy de Moubray, a former senior official of the Bank of England, is now 83. When his wife died nine years ago one of his friends said “Well, Guy, I suppose it’s baked beans on toast for you now”. “Not on your life” he replied. He calculates that he cooks and prepares well over 500 meals a year for himself; not counting breakfasts. So he has a wealth of experience for writing Dinner For One.
Guy de Moubray’s first cookery book - Dinner At Eighty - published when he was 81 received widespread critical acclaim.
“Guy is fast becoming something of a legend in his own lunchtime”!
East Anglian Daily Times
"As a cook, he is meticulous"
The Saturday Telegraph Magazine.
Readers have been enthusiastic.
“Your book is so good that I am giving people copies of it. 4 more copies please”
Lady Freyberg, Ivry
“We are all so taken by your book and join your fan club ! How young you are, no signs of an elderly diet of beige coloured food without spices, with the odd fatigued orange thrown in as a vitamin.”
Amélie Ehrnrooth, Finland
“I was truly delighted by your book. It is lovely to find someone who appreciates that the point of entertaining is to enjoy the company of guests”
Yvonne Pool, Somerset
